Welcome to learning how to tap with SofTap!
What is SofTap and why is it called SofTap?
The answer is simple: we perform permanent makeup by Softly Tapping permanent cosmetic pigment into the dermis of the skin. This is all done by hand, which is why we call it the SofTap Hand Method.
Why do it this way? Because its gentle, offers excellent control, and produces beautiful, soft, natural effects for permanent makeup. This is why our slogan is "The Most Natural Look in Permanent Cosmetics."
Professionals worldwide have chosen SofTap for over 30 years, and the method continues to evolve and produce new styles every day. Retention is very good, and also very forgiving--effects and pigments are soft enough that professionals can adjust their clients' styles years down the road.
Tapping with the SofTap Hand Method can be simple, but that doesn't mean it's easy. As with any method, the artist must pay attention to their fundamental training and practice until they get perfect, repeatable results with every client. By practicing and perfecting your technique basics you can implant color more evenly, have the least amount of trauma to the skin, and get the best retention.
Whether you've been doing permanent cosmetics for one day or 30 years, refreshing your core tapping skills can benefit you and your clients greatly! Pay attention to the sound, number of taps, and needle angle to get a well rounded introduction to SofTap.
A Single Tap
To begin, you will need to carefully place your needle tips onto the surface of the skin.
Do not push down! You're not trying to "poke" into the skin.
All needle points should touch the skin at the same time. You want to have even pressure across each needle point. SofTap needles are patented to have even tension across each individual needle, this allows for even implantation of pigment and superior comfort for your client.
Carefully scoot forward and lift.
This will create a small abrasion on the skin.
That's one tap!
